Fans were shocked when reports arose the TV host had moved over to this side of the pond, with the ‘real reason’ revealed.
It was said the 66-year-old had left the US for her ‘retirement’ after having said she was ‘kicked out of showbiz’ during her stand-up comedy tour ahead of a Netflix special.
But many also claimed DeGeneres has made the move over 5,000 miles away from California to the Cotswolds because of the big recent change in the states.

However, according to insiders, the couple had already planned to leave the US behind before he won the election earlier this month.
A source reportedly told DailyMail.com: “Make no mistake about it. This is Ellen and Portia’s retirement.
“Neither one of them have any projects lined up.”
TMZ also said they had already purchased their place in the UK before the election took place. But they very much wanted to ‘get the hell out’ of America after Trump’s win.
With DeGeneres well-known for her talk show which came to an end in 2022, de Rossi is known for her work on the screen too as an actor. She played Lindsay Bluth Fünke in Arrested Development as well as appearing in the likes of Ally McBeal, Scandal and Better Off Ted.
The insider also reportedly said the star has been left with much less work following allegations of her fostering a toxic workplace on her long-running talk show.

“Ellen really felt she had made her mark on the industry, but that was diminished when she was cancelled over her alleged treatment of her staff,’ the source added. “Then to have celebrities call her out one by one was so hurtful,” they added.
DeGeneres said earlier this year she was quitting Hollywood and that we ‘won’t see her again’.
In a Q&A following one of her shows she was asked whether she would be returning to making films after her stand up tour.
She said: “Um, no. This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”
Her final special, Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval, premiered on Netflix on 24 September.

The comedian and long-time talk show host has confirmed that she will be quitting Hollywood once she plays the final leg of her current comedy tour.
DeGeneres is in the midst of the Ellen’s Last Stand…. Up Tour, a stand up tour which will be filmed and released as a Netflix special.

She said: “Um, no. This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”
When asked if she would be returning to her role as Dory from Pixar’s Finding Nemo and Finding Dory she said: “No, I’m going bye-bye, remember.”
DeGeneres hosted The Ellen DeGeneres Show for almost 20 years, with it at one time being one of the most popular shows in the US.
The stand up comic has been using the tour to address misconduct allegations against her from the set of the show.
The talk show ended due to these allegations, which ranged from racism to sexual misconduct to intimidation.
DeGeneres ended up giving an on air apology, where she said: “I take this very seriously and I want to say I’m so sorry to the people it affected.

“I learned that things happened that should never have happened.
“If I’ve ever let someone down, if I’ve ever hurt their feelings, I am sorry for that.”
Following an internal investigation into the allegations, three executives at Warner Media ended up being fired for their part in the controversy.
At the show DeGeneres said: “Let me catch you up on what’s been going on with me since you last saw me.
“I got chickens. Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean.”
“I am a strong woman. I am many things, but I am not mean.”
In a previous show, DeGeneres said it was ‘hurtful’ how her show ended.
She said: “I just thought, ‘Well this is not the way I wanted to end my career, but this is the way it’s ending.’ … I just hated the way the show ended.
“I love that show so much and I just hated that the last time people would see me is that way.”
DeGeneres’s tour will continue until August 17, at which point we will – supposedly – never see her again.
